A kitchen sink & heat shield

The long-standing question and joke amongst family & friends has been "do you have a kitchen sink yet?". In fact, we purchased the sink last year and never installed it. Noah has not had time to build the cabinets yet so dish washing had been taking place in the basement utility sink since we moved in...nearly two years ago...until a few days ago. Noah built a temporary cabinet to house the sink and dishwasher. Life has changed dramatically! The original plan was for Noah to build real cabinets this summer so that Mindy could have a sink & dishwasher, but then Noah's brother, Levi, got engaged and the plans had to change. So to keep Mindy's sanity in check, Noah installed the sink & dishwasher. We are all still adjusting to the fact that we don't have to use the bathtub to get water and go downstairs to clear the dirty dishes. Life is good.

In other news, Noah built and installed heat shields for the wood stove. He used sheet metal and hammered the edges over for a safe, clean edge. Mindy then painted them black using high-temp appliance paint. Noah installed them on the wall fabricating 2 x 4 metal brackets with a tap to take a bolt. They look fantastic!
