Flooring Purchase

Our good friend Eric Holm (a.k.a. Homer) put Noah in contact with his lumber dealer in Orrington, ME (about 2 hours from us). Nino Chiappone at Kings Mountain Hardwood. Noah drove to look at his flooring and decided that was what we needed. The next step was to rent a U-haul truck to get the wood home. It turned out to be quite an adventure to unload, but we accomplished the task in the 24-hour window of the rental period and now our family room looks like a mini lumber yard. We purchased unfinished maple flooring in various widths, 2", 3", 4", 5" and even 6". The lengths are also random but decently sized, as long as 12 feet! We are very happy with our purchase and are looking forward to installing this beautiful wood. Right now the wood is acclimating to our humidity to ensure no buckling after installation.

Paint: First Floor Complete

As of February 6, 2010, the paint on the first floor is complete (minus the touch-ups that need to be fixed). Mindy was hoping to be tiling the hallway from front door to back door this week. Instead she has been on the couch with a broken ankle. At least the paint was at a nice stopping point when this happened. Work will resume as soon as possible. And no, she did not fall off of a ladder. It was an unfortunate slip on the ice outside.

And a big thanks to Linna for coming up to help us paint a few weeks ago.
