Some kitchen shelves

After moving away from the house for 4 years for a job change, we were able to move back in 2016 with a remote work position for Noah (yay!). We have to replace/repair the roof (hopefully this spring), so we have not done any major projects until that is taken care of. But we did manage to figure out some open shelving for our kitchen using wood harvested from our land. Each shelf has a live edge finish; each is a different species of wood (Maple, Poplar, Larch, Balsam Fir) and we still need to harvest one more this year (likely Birch). Noah used a chainsaw mill to rip the boards, and Mindy did the finishing work. We love the way these have beautified the kitchen while giving us a little functionality (and as you can see, we installed the range hood to the shelf, which was one of the driving factors for this project).

Since this wall is an exterior wall of our ICF construction, we installed plywood to allow for shelf mounting. The brackets were ordered from ArchitecturalDepot.com. They came prefinished, however they were scratched severely in shipping and Mindy had to refinish them.
